Nigeria D’Tigers fell 79-101 to Argentina in the second encounter of the two-game exhibition game in Las Vegas, Wednesday night.

Argentina won the game mostly on the strength of its three-point shots. Nigeria trailed the entire game and were down by as much as 25 points in the third quarter.

D’Tigers were able to bring the deficit to nine points late in the third quarter but the Argentines responded with a barrage of three-pointers. A 9-0 run in the fourth quarter, sparked-off by Chamberlain Oguchi, reduced the lead but it was not enough to stop Argentina from winning the game.

Michael Umeh led Nigeria in scoring with 16 points. Ike Diogu and Ben Uzoh scored 13 points each, while Oguchi scored 11.

Michael Gbinije and Al-Farouq Aminu were not activated for the match.

D’Tigers won the first game of the two-game series against Argentina on two days earlier, on Monday, 96-92.

The team will travel to Los Angeles on Thursday 21 July where it will play an exhibition game against China before heading to Houston where it will play the United States Basketball team on August 1 to complete its exhibition tour before the Olympics.
