The Nigerian national team will play against Argentina on 20 Wednesday in the second match of their two-game friendly series in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Nigeria D’Tigers outlasted the Argentines in regulation time on Monday night 96-92 at the Thomas and Mack Center where the game was played.
Ike Diogu, D’Tigers forward, was the key factor that led Nigeria to the win as he poured 18 point in the basket, including shooting 7-of-8 from the free throw line. The 6’9 center also pulled down seven boards in the game. Diogu suffered an injury at the 2015 Afrobasket in Tunisia which prevented him from playing a single game. His resurgence is considered a vital factor for the Nigerian team.
Argentina was without two of their star players, Manu Ginobili and Jose Calderon, on Monday and there is a chance those two will be activated against Nigeria on Wednesday night.
After their exhibition game on Wednesday night, both teams will play each other on August 7 at the Rio Olympics.
