NBC has ordered a script for the series and will have Kourtney Kang as executive producer. The story was written by Kang’s brother, Patrick Kang, and Michael Levin.
“Brotherly Love is inspired by the life of Ben Simmons and centers on a unique sibling relationship within a multi-ethnic family. Together, they pursue their dreams while navigating life in the spotlight in Philadelphia, a passionate city where sports is in your blood, and your blood is always boiling,” Nellie Andreeva of Deadline says.
Simmons who was born and raised in Australia to an Australian mother and his American-born father, who also played professional basketball, will serve as consulting producer for the show in tandem with his brother Sean Tribe.
Brotherly Love will join The Wall as shows produced by James on NBC. James also has The Shop running on HBO, while currently producing a new game show on CBS, and documentaries for HBO and Showtime. He is also producing a Netflix series on the life of Madam C.J. Walker, which will cast Octavia Spencer in a lead role.
