After his 2017-18 season ended prematurely with a devastating ankle injury in his debut for the Boston Celtics, Gordon Hayward is poised to begin the upcoming season in new style.
Sports apparel company New Balance is reportedly preparing an offer for Hayward that would make him the face of the brand’s basketball division set for relaunch, according to ESPN’s Nick DePaula. Hayward is set for shoe free agency when his contract with Nike expires this summer and New Balance can prepare an offer sheet for the 28-year-old Indianapolis native.
All-Star Gordon Hayward is an upcoming shoe free agent that will receive major interest from several brands.

Though New Balance is mostly known for its running shoes, the company is working towards eking out a share of the basketball shoe market by banking on its affiliation with Hayward’s team, the Boston Celtics. New Balance is a sponsor of the Celtics’ training facility, the Auerbach Center, which was recently opened in June. The facility also houses New Balance’s headquarters.
